I wasn't the only one who got used to the XM radio, as soon as Anna got in the car she would demand I press the 'Anna button' switching us from 80s gold to the mind-numbing nursery-rhymes that are her current vogue. Sadly I had to ditch the XM a few months ago. I have a four minute commute to work and I couldn't justify the luxury, so it's back to eight minutes of NPR a day, which leaves me tantalisingly half-educated about Ghandian basket-weaving.
Unless Anna is in the car and then she still demands 'the Anna button' .
I would actually welcome any suggestions from parents out there who have some good kids CDs to listen to that won't leave me wanting to claw my own ears off at every 'hey diddle diddle'.
In the meantime, I bring you this, courtesy of my friend Jen. Kids songs that won't have you resorting to driving on valium. Damn this is funny:

Disney put out a series of children's song CD's which I like.. the CD covers all have a different character on them.. the first one has Mickey.. there's Donald, Goofy etc. We only have the first one but I actually like the CD.
Ahh! I sympathise. Sadly, I think it's a rite of passage for every parent. It would seem that endless nursery rhymes leads on to the same book being read night after night (don't dare to miss any bits out because they know them off by heart!) which leads on to endless repetitions of favourite TV shows (don't record them or buy a DVD!)
Disney was the less torturous CD for me too. I trust they're still making reasonable tunes.
I admit I like the Backyardigans. *hangs head in shame*
bare naked ladies - snacktime. the abc's song makes my friend's 5-year-old giggle and he doesn't even know yet why it's so funny. and i'm a big fan of dan zane.

Kids music, I've got help for you..my Anna is now 7, so we're onto mostly top 40, but I do miss the days of Laurie Berkner and The Candy Band. Laurie Berkner's cds and songs are some of our all time favorites. The Candy Band is a rock band of Mamas from Detroit.
