Proof positive that LK is having a serious effect on UK culture:
For some reason he didn't believe my Mum and Dad when they said they'd run in to a Lakers Bar near Keswick.
Perhaps basketball is going to become the world sport after all (!)
Maybe you lot can weigh in on this one for us. The first night I met LK we got into a debate about whether football (soccer) or basketball would be the most global sport in 50 years time.
I said football he said basketball (well, duh).
It's scary to think that so far 10 years have already passed but I'm quite confident that I still have the upper hand here.
I have been known to be a tad biased though, so any thoughts?

Hmm... I'm not sure... I'd say football too.. but maybe that's because I don't hear about basketball fans the world over getting in big brawls in the stands.
Oh my goodness I know this pub, I worked in Ambleside for a year and I always go & visit every time I go home. Just love that gingerbread & kendal mintcake! Those lakes pubs are the best!
Mmmm, kendal mintcake! It's pure sugar so no wonder all us Brits are constantly getting in to some argy-bargy with other football fans!
LONG LIVE SOCCER (FOOTBALL) or whatever you want to call it - definitely the sport of the 21st century! Our own local UCSB team was even the US champions for Division 1 college soccer last year! Which means some of those guys might eventually play for the US World Cup team (if they were raised in Argentina first). Let's go to a game!
It appears tha basketball may be sneaking in a bit of a global presence though. According to my friend Sus who spotted a bloke in head to toe Lakers garb in a Tescos in North London. As she wrote 'he was geographically and culturally as far away from LA as it was possible to be'!
